Hi guys,
I said I would only make one post in this thread. However, since then, the matter was referred to the combined IPSC Executive and President's Council for a formal decision, and the reply was:

Dear <deleted>,
Thanks for your question.
1. Dry-Firing is defined in the Glossary as "The activation of the trigger and/or action of a firearm which is totally devoid of ammunition". The only other place in the rulebook where the expression "Dry-firing" appears is in Rule 2.4.1.2 in respect of Safety Areas.
2. Sight picture is defined in the Glossary as "Aiming at a target without actually shooting at it (see Section 8.7)", but dry-firing is not mentioned as being part of taking a sight picture. This indicates that "dry-firing" and "taking a sight picture" are mutually exclusive actions.
3. Rule 10.5.9 imposes a Match DQ for "Failure to keep the finger outside the trigger guard during loading, reloading, or unloading except where specifically permitted (see Rule 8.1.2.4 and 8.3.7.1)". Dry-Firing is not "specifically permitted" under Rule 8.3.1 (the Load & Make Ready procedure).
In answer to your question, it is therefore our unanimous conclusion that dry-firing is NOT permitted during the LAMR procedure.
The combined IPSC Executive and President's Council is comprised of thirteen (13) of IPSC's most experienced competitors and officials.
Cheers,
Vince Pinto
Puiku, kad yra nuorodos ir galima bus pasiskaityti, ka ir kaip apie tai sako taisykles.
Aciu Ramai! +1

Idomus klausimas, o kaip, kaip teisejas pasielgtumete, jei po komandos "Load and make ready" dalyvis pertrauktu spyna ir darytu suvio imitacija, taip vadinama "dry firing"?
Tu man savo poziuri i ta reikala populiariai isaiskinai, taciau jei nenusprendei del ko nors duoti DQ, tuomet leisk zmogui ramiai atsaudyti ir tik po to ji ispek. GV diskusija skaiciau ir man dabar viskas aisku. Panasu, kad jie patys nezinojo... Tokius dalykus reikia aptarinet pries varzybas, RO briefing'o metu.
Jei startas MR, pertraukus spyna, aktyvuosis nuleistuko mechanizmas, o jo pagal taisykles decockint nesigaus, nes pradzia be sovinio lizde, taigi...
Liesti nuleistuka galima bus tik PD sauliams kurie pirstu ar rankos pagalba tures "decockint" dauzikli, jei nera safe decocker'io, o startas reikalauja uztaisyti ginkla.
